About the Project
Placeholder copy The Pratum Spirituale (Λειμών, “Spiritual Meadow”) is a collection of anecdotes and sayings compiled by John Moschos and his companion Sophronios in the early seventh century. This digital edition presents the Greek text from Migne's Patrologia Graeca, volume 87, with an English summary and citation apparatus for each story.
What this edition offers
- The Greek text of each story in a large, legible serif.
- A two-sentence English summary above the text.
- Sentence-level citation numbers (e.g. 43.5) so scholars can refer to precise passages.
- A searchable, accent-insensitive index of topics, persons, and places.
- Editor annotations anchored alongside the phrases they discuss.
- Links to the source page images in the Patrologia Graeca.
Editorial method
Stories are transcribed from the printed pages and reviewed against ground truth. A transcription lab compares OCR output from several models, scores accuracy, and lets editors correct errors before publishing. Summaries and keywords are generated with AI and checked by an editor. Replace this paragraph with your own description of the workflow.
Contributors
Editors and transcribers are credited on each story. If you would like to contribute, use the “Contributors” link at the top of the page to sign in or request access.
